Ziółko Dried Basil consists of basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum) – one of the world’s most popular culinary herbs. When properly dried, the leaves retain a fresh, slightly spicy aroma with a hint of aniseed and a delicate sweetness.

Basil is an indispensable ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine. In some parts of the world, it has earned the nickname ‘tomato herb’ – it complements the flavour of tomato-based dishes so well. It also works well in vegetable dishes (courgette, aubergine), poultry dishes, and for flavouring olive oil or wine vinegar.

Usage

A culinary spice for Mediterranean dishes: tomato sauces, caprese salad (mozzarella, tomato, olive oil), pesto, pizza, pasta, lasagne. It goes perfectly with grilled vegetables (courgette, aubergine, peppers), poultry dishes and for flavouring olive oil and wine vinegar.

Directions

Add at the end of cooking – the aroma of dried basil develops when heated, but evaporates quickly if cooked for too long. Typical serving: 1/2 – 1 teaspoon per 4 servings. Basil goes well with garlic, oregano, thyme, rosemary and tomatoes.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place, away from light, moisture and foreign odours.
