About the product

Bilovit Erythritol is a product from the Bilovit own brand – a 100% pure sweetener (polyol/sugar alcohol) in crystalline form. Produced through a natural fermentation process. Erythritol occurs naturally in small quantities in fruit, certain lichens and red wine – code E968 in the food industry.

A colourless, crystalline substance that is highly soluble in water. 0 kcal/100 g, slightly less sweet than sugar (around 75% of the sweetness of sugar) – to achieve the same sweetness, increase the amount by a third. It works well as a convenient sugar substitute in hot and cold drinks, baked goods and desserts.

Uses

Sweetener for drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, smoothies), baked goods (cakes, biscuits, sweet buns), desserts (creams, mousses, ice cream, panna cotta), porridge, yoghurts and preserves. Works well as a convenient alternative to sugar for those monitoring their sugar intake. Vegan.

Directions for use

Use as you would ordinary sugar, increasing the quantity by a third (100 g sugar = approx. 130 g erythritol) – the sweetness is milder. In yeast-raised baked goods, add a pinch of sugar or honey to help the yeast activate (erythritol does not ferment as well as sugar). In creamy desserts: it dissolves quickly when heated. Introduce gradually – although erythritol is better tolerated than maltitol or xylitol, polyols can have a laxative effect in large quantities.

Storage

Store in a cool, dark place at room temperature. Doypack with a zip-lock closure – can be opened and resealed multiple times. Protect from moisture – hygroscopic product.
